Explainer Videos in Elementary Mathematics Education

Produktinformationen "Explainer Videos in Elementary Mathematics Education"

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 and the associated school closures, explainer videos have seen increasing use in mathematics education. In this book, Lisa Tusche-Naggar examines the quality characteristics of "good" mathematics explainer videos. The aim is to provide a transparent account of the intentions and criteria that come into play in the creation, selection, and reception of these videos. Drawing on interviews and group discussions with various relevant stakeholder groups, the book reconstructs and compares different perspectives on the quality of explainer videos. It highlights both the commonalities and differences in the views of explainer video producers, teachers and students who use explainer videos as a resource in mathematics education, and mathematics education researchers, who provide the theoretical frameworks for reflecting on explainer videos. The book thus offers a multi-perspective view of potential quality criteria for mathematics explainer videos and also presents ideas for how these videos can be effectively integrated into mathematics instruction.
