Evidence-based Strategies to Address Homelessness

Produktinformationen "Evidence-based Strategies to Address Homelessness"

This volume focuses on practical strategies to address the problem of homelessness in the USA and globally. It takes a clinical sociology perspective to analyze ways to help communities develop humane social policies and practices to prevent homelessness in the first place and design strategies to handle encampments with unsheltered homeless people. It addresses a major gap in the literature that has so far quantified the number of unsheltered people or discussed their etiology and the consequences of homelessness. It critiques the official data on homelessness in the USA for not taking into account the numerous housing distressed populations. The volume includes chapters from esteemed experts who share their views about positive strategies that communities could use to prevent homelessness. It shares best practices that government leaders, policymakers, organizational administrators, researchers, practitioners, and advocates can use that have produced positive results. Promoting a human rights approach, this volume explores ways that clinical sociology has contributed to increasing the health and well-being of both individuals and communities. This is an important read for researchers, practitioners, and policy-makers working on or with homeless populations.
